AAIMH WA 2023 Seminar

4 Apr 2023, 5:30pm-8:00pm

In this presentation, Amy Finlay-Jones and Jaida Penny will discuss current work being undertaken by the Early Neurodevelopment and Mental Health Team at Telethon Kids Institute that aims to understand how we can ensure that all babies and young children receive timely support to nurture their social, emotional, and behavioural development. The focus is on understanding how the science of “what works, for whom?” can be used to achieve more equitable outcomes within universal models of screening and early intervention. They will discuss research that aims to explore what we should measure and when, insights into what families want from early screening and support systems, and findings from our review and consultation regarding measures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child development. Finally, they will present preliminary work that focuses on promotion of co- and self-regulation as a unifying framework for infant and early childhood social, emotional, and behavioural wellbeing.
