On Monday 22 May, AHPA Vice-President Melinda Edmunds and AHPA Executive Officer Rebecca Zosel met with Brian Mitchell MP, Labor's Member for Lyons in Tasmania and a member of the Parliamentary Friends of Preventive and Public Health.
It was great to hear Brian's strong support for increased funding for prevention, the need to end siloed thinking, and to focus on the determinants of health which, as we know, often lie outside of the health system.
AHPA as the peak body for health promotion in Australia actively engages with politicians to advocate for greater focus, commitment and investment in health promotion and illness prevention. Read AHPA's Health Promotion and Illness Prevention Position Statement.
