Background
AHPA is committed to building the professional capacity of members and providing responsible and sustainable governance, management and leadership. Further, the Association supports the development of consistent competencies for health promotion practice nationally. This pilot provides members opportunities to develop their governance and leadership capability, and experience what it is like to be part of a working Board, Working Group or Committee. Participation contributes to the development of key health promotion competencies.
Leadership is a designated competency for health promotion practice as defined in the International Union for Health Promotion and Education (IUHPE) Core Competencies and Professional Standards for Health Promotion.
The second pilot follows the successful delivery of the inaugural pilot over August 2023-March 2024. AHPA is committed to running a second pilot in 2024 in order to refine the course content, materials and processes. The two pilots will be evaluated, with the aim of making the course available nationally from 2025 onwards.
Cost
AHPA is investing significantly in this program. Participation in the pilot is free of charge to participants, pending course completion. Participants who do not complete the course will be charged a fee to cover the cost to AHPA of delivering the course.
We acknowledge the support of the Australian Government to develop and pilot the program as part of the Health Peak and Advisory Bodies Program Grant 2022-2025.
