In June 2023, a coalition of leading public health organisations, including AHPA, wrote to the Hon. Roger Cook MLA as the recently appointed Premier of Western Australia regarding investment in preventive health.
The coalition emphasised the need to implement recommendations from the Sustainable Health Review Final Report and to ensure transparent, public reporting of progress. One of these recommendations was to “Increase and sustain focus and investment in public health, with prevention rising to at least five per cent of total health expenditure by July 2029" (Sustainable Health Review Final Report, page 10).

In July 2023, the coalition received a letter of response from the Hon. Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson's office outlining the Western Australian Government's commitment to the preventive health goals set by the Sustainable Health Review and progress on public reporting on expenditure on prevention.
