We frequently have visitors to committee meetings. It is a great way to get to know people and in turn be known within the health promotion community.
AHPA (SA) Committee meetings are held once a month, after 5pm at a central location in Adelaide but we routinely teleconference in committee and other members who cannot make this location.
A group of interested health promotion professionals began meeting in early 1999 to ascertain the level of interest and commitment in establishment a state branch of the Australian Association of Health Promotion Professionals. With encouragement and support from a number of interested people, a core group formed an executive and met over the next few months to establish the terms of reference for the executive, branch aims and objectives. During this time the executive began to promote the Association to potential members and prepare a specific state based constitution based on the National Constitution. On the 3rd March 2000 the inaugural AGM of the Australian Health Promotion Association (SA Branch) was held where it was agreed by Association members to formally establish Australian Health Promotion Association (SA), to accept the tabled constitution and the inaugural committee was elected with Janet Haydon as President.
To be kept up-to-date on current events, please become a member of AHPA SA.
We have a closed Facebook page for South Australian AHPA members. It is a chance for members to discuss any questions or suggestions they have for the committee. Along with this, job opportunities, events, and committee documents will be posted here as they arise as an extension of the monthly e-bulletin. Please search ‘AHPA SA Members’ on Facebook.
