Introducing Health Science Sundowner at ECU South West

2 Feb 2018, 5:30pm-7:30pm

Executive Dean, School of Medical and Health Sciences, Professor Moira Sim, invites you to the launch of Edith Cowan University’s Bachelor of Health Science course at ECU South West Campus. The course, majoring in Nutrition, Health Promotion and Occupational Safety and Health, will be delivered through ECU’s South West Campus from 2018. As part of the new offerings, a new Health Science Hub will be available on campus. The evening will include two keynote presentations by Professor Amanda Devine and Associate Professor Jacques Oosthuizen. Professor Devine will present ‘Diet, the gut microbiome, its metabolites and human health’ which will build awareness of how important the microbiome is to human health. She will also discuss how we can achieve this each and every day. In his presentation entitled ‘Establishing cause from an epidemiological vs. a legal perspective’, Associate Professor Jacques Oosthuizen will discuss the processes of inquiry used to demonstrate factual and legal causation. Occupational and Environmental Epidemiologists contribute critical skills to this process, including analysing scientific evidence and applying guidelines of causality.
