Carl Heslop


Carl is a rurally based professional problem-solver who enjoys a challenge. Carl recently completed a PhD (Curtin University) with a rural Participatory Action Research (PAR) project that developed and validated the Rural Sexual Health in Youth (RuSHY) Framework to inform the planning, implementation and evaluation of multi-level community-based sexual health interventions for young people.

This study was conducted by the Collaboration for Evidence, Research, and Impact in Public Health. Carl currently works for Headspace Albany in both a Health Promotion and clinical role (Nursing) and serves as a Director with Amity Health. Carl has been on the AHPA WA committee since 2016 and served as Vice-President before becoming President in 2019.
