The Heart Foundation is pleased to advise the launch of the Australian Heart Maps, available at http://www.heartfoundation.org.au/for-professionals/australian-heart-maps
Hospital admission data for the Australian Heart Maps was provided to the Heart Foundation by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) who accessed the data from State and Territory Health Departments. The maps present hospital admissions at a state/territory, regional (Statistical Area Level 4) and local government level. Socio-demographic and risk factor data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics is also shown for comparison. We are extremely grateful for the support from Department Health WA in making this project possible.
This data on heart-related hospital admissions will highlight inequities. This will help inform planning of services and provide a valuable tool for health professionals, health services, local governments, researchers and policy makers.
