In November 2024, AHPA submitted a response to the NSW Government consultation on the NSW Drug Summit.

The consultation was designed to inform the summit discussions and help the government develop practical solutions for how NSW addresses drug use and harms.

AHPA proposed the following in its submission:

  1. Ban alcohol advertising
  2. Increase funding for Community Drug Action Teams (CDATs)
  3. Implement evidence-based PreVenture Program in NSW public high schools
  4. Decriminalise drugs for personal use
  5. Implement drug checking services
  6. Expand supervised injecting facilities
  7. Adopt a Health in All Policies (HiAP) Approach.

AHPA thanks NSW-ACT Branch Vice-President Gabi Martinez for developing a response on behalf of the Association.
