In November 2024, AHPA signed a joint letter to the Food Standards Australia and New Zealand (FSANZ) Board, led by Alcohol Change Australia.
The letter, supported by leading public health and consumer groups, called on the FSANZ Board to protect public health and prevent consumers from being misled about the healthiness of alcoholic products by prohibiting the use of sugar and carbohydrate claims on alcoholic products and in associated marketing.
