The Australian Government is developing an Early Years Strategy to shape its vision for the future of Australia’s children and their families. There is currently no overarching Commonwealth strategy to support the early years in Australia.
In February 2023, the Australian Government invited feedback on the Early Years Strategy Discussion Paper. Submissions closed on 30th April 2023.
AHPA provided a written submission encouraging the Early Years Strategy to focus on prevention and early intervention across the interconnected determinants for health and wellbeing. AHPA suggested that the vision our nation should have for Australia's youngest children is the ability to live equitable, healthy and fulfilled lifestyles, across the lifespan.
