Closing the Gap and CALD initiatives happening in Queensland

The next in the series of professional development event for the Queensland Branch. Participants were provided with fantastic insight into some of the Closing the Gap and CALD initiatives happening in Queensland. The event was held at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital Education Centre with sixteen people attending and video conference link at the Sunshine Coast Population Health Unit where seven people attended.
The evening started with Gail Hyslop from Queensland Health Multicultural Health Services presenting ‘Cultural Competency in Health Care’. Dr Chelsea Bond from the Inala Indigenous Health Service then presented ‘Cause or Cure? Health Promotion and Narratives for Aboriginality’. We then had Michelle Costello discuss the ‘Queensland Divisions of General Practice Contribution to Closing the Gap’.
