Call for Applications: AHPA National Mentoring Program – February 2024

AHPA is pleased to call for applications for the AHPA National Mentoring Program 2024. The AHPA mentoring program is for people interested in or working in the field of health promotion. It is a one-to-one relationship between a more experienced person (mentor) and a less experienced person (mentee).

BENEFITS

  • It presents an ideal opportunity to facilitate knowledge exchange, networking and professional development for AHPA members. Previous participants have described the program as enjoyable, nurturing, positive, mutually beneficial, rewarding and reassuring.

  • Mentees benefit from the guidance and ability to have an independent conversation about their professional development goals.

  • Mentors also benefit from networking with their mentee and developing their coaching skills.

  • The Mentoring Program will also assist those who have achieved registration as a Health Promotion Practitioner under our Health Promotion Practitioner Registration initiative. Mentoring is approved as a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity for maintaining your registration through AHPA. (see https://www.healthpromotion.org.au/our-profession/practitioner-registration)

ELIGIBILITY

  • Mentee applicants must be a current individual member of AHPA.

  • Mentor applicants are expected to have 4 or more years’ experience in health promotion.

Being a mentee, and/or a mentor, also requires a commitment to the other person in terms of time (~2 hours per month for 6 months) and energy (e.g. developing a plan, being prepared for meetings, identifying contacts or resources). Please read more about the commitments of being involved bere applying here
