Memorial Oration | Background | Terms of Reference

Terms of reference

Programming of oration
The oration will be held during the Association's annual health promotion conference, and will be scheduled as part of the regular conference program.
Oration topic
The Eberhard Wenzel Memorial Oration is designed to maintain Eberhard's legacy of provocation and challenge. The oration must provide a new or challenging perspective on an issue of relevance to health promotion, and be a catalyst for further discussion and debate amongst health promotion practitioners, researchers and policy makers.
The topic of the oration does not necessarily have to match that of the overall theme of the conference. The emphasis should be on the challenging nature of the topic rather than its confluence with the conference theme.
Choice of orator
The orator is to be chosen by the local conference organising committee with input from the Australian Health Promotion Association's Management Committee. The choice of topic is to be negotiated directly with potential candidates for the oration, with input from the Management Committee.
The orator must agree to provoke and challenge the conference participants into thinking critically about an issue of significance to health promotion.
