Michael Sparks will be attending the Annual General Meeting (AGM) as guest speaker to talk about the 7^th Global Conference on Health Promotion, held in Nairobi, Kenya in October 2009.  Michael is a Senior Lecturer in Community Studies at the University of Canberra, Global Vice President (Strategy and Governance) for the International Union for Health Promotion and Education, and has undertaken consultancies for the World Health Organization, the Cancer Council, the Department of Health of England, the Estonian Union for Health Promotion, the Australian National University and other national and international organisations. Concurrently, he is also a Doctoral Scholar at the Australian National University undertaking research into the emerging role of Non-Governmental Organisations in implementing global public health policy.

Michael was a presenter and participant at the 7^th Global Conference on Health Promotion and will be providing an overview of the conference, the tools that were developed for it and the Nairobi Call to Action for Closing the Implementation Gap in Health Promotion.  Particular emphasis will be given to the Call to Action and what it means for contemporary health promotion.
