Health Promotion – be part of something great
Welcome to the WA Branch of the Australian Health Promotion Association.
The WA Branch is the leading dedicated health promotion body in WA and is run by a team of volunteer health promotion professionals who meet on a monthly basis to progress objectives of the Association and provide support to its members.
While there are more than 1000 members and subscribers at a National level, the AHPA (WA Branch) has more than 220 members drawn from government departments and agencies, non-Government organisations, community-based organisations and groups, private companies and industries, and students.
Vision
To improve the health status of Western Australians by building the leadership capacity of our members and making Health Promotion a priority.

The AHPA (WA Branch) Executive Committee prioritises financial stability and good governance for the Branch whilst continuing to deliver a range of core activities to serve the interests of members. Additionally we communicate with members via a regular newsletter and an events and jobs list. We also work hard to raise our profile and that of health promotion in WA via advocacy and building partnerships with key groups such as the Public Health Association of Australia (WA) and the Public Health Advocacy Institute of WA.
Key Priority Areas 2010 – 2012
The WA Branch has developed an operational plan for 2010 – 2012 to provide a road map for the branch over the coming years and allow for continuity across past, present and future activities. The key focus areas are based on the National Strategic Directions 2009-2012 and include:
1. Promoting Health Promotion, Leadership and Direction: Build AHPA’s role as a leading authority in WA health promotion
2. Advocacy and Representation: Build AHPA’s advocacy capacity and action for change
3. Professional Development and excellence, Scholarships and Career Development
4. Strategic Alliances, Networks and Support

We will continue to work hard to best position the WA Branch to meet the changing needs of our members and make health promotion a priority.
